Noël Forgeard

Noël Forgeard KBE ( born December 8, 1946 in La Ferté- Gaucher ) was from 2005 to 2006 one of the two equal CEO of EADS ( European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company).

Forgeard studied at the École Polytechnique in Paris. He initially worked as an engineer in the French Ministry of Industry, then as a technical consultant in 1978 for Civil Aviation Ministry of Transport and 1980 for armor in the Defense Ministry.

In 1981, he joined a Usinor as Deputy Director General and carried by its strategic vision, essential to a reorganization of the French steel industry at.

1986-87 he was a consultant in industry affairs for Jacques Chirac, then Prime Minister.

He then moved to Matra and in 1989 became chairman of the aerospace and defense sectors. From 1992 he was Director General of the Lagardèregruppe, then President of Matra Hautes Technologies.

From April 1998 to Forgeard was CEO of Airbus. In this time were the start of the A380 program, which he had considerably advanced, the transformation of Airbus from individual national of an integrated enterprise, as well as significant commercial success: Since 2003, Airbus surpassed Boeing in the number of sold aircraft.

In 2005 he took over the management of EADS together with Thomas Enders. After becoming aware of significant delays in the Airbus A380 and the crash of the EADS share price on 13 June 2006 Forgeard was the focus of criticism because he had mid-March redeemed EADS stock options. Both of German as well as French side, he was forced to resign, which took place on 2 July 2006. Forgeard has received 8.5 million euros from his former employer to his early retirement, according to the EADS shareholder documents for the General Meeting on 4 May 2007 in advance.

On 28 May 2008 the former EADS CEO Noël Forgeard was detained by police in connection with investigations of insider trading.

Forgeard is married and has four children.
