Nonacho Lake

Nonacho Lake is a reservoir in the Northwest Territories of Canada and is 75 km south-east of Great Slave Lake located. The water area is 698 km ². Including the islands total area is 784 km ².

The Taltson River flows from Nonacho River in a southwesterly direction to the nearby reservoir Taltson Lake.

The dam on Taltson River was built in 1964 to supply the former lead and zinc mine Pine Point with energy. Its catchment area covers 22,600 km ².

The hydropower plant Twin Gorges is situated 200 km downstream. It has an installed capacity of 18 MW. There are plans to expand the hydroelectric power plant and the power to 56 MW ​​to enlarge. As part of Project Taltson an underground outlet control structure is provided with small hydroelectric power plant on Nonacho Dam.
