Taltson River

The Taltson River is a river in the Northwest Territories of Canada. The 500 km long river has its origin in the Coventry Lake in the southeast of the Northwest Territories.

It flows through the area southeast of Great Slave Lake, and finally terminates at its southern shore east of the Slave River.

There are eight dams along its river course: Nonacho Lake, Taltson Lake, King Lake, Lady Grey Lake, Benna Thy Lake, Kozo Lake, Twin Gorges, Tsu Lake.

At the Twin Gorges Dam is located since 1966 a 18 MW hydroelectric power plant. There are plans to replace it with a new 56 MW ​​hydroelectric power plant.

An important left tributary is the Tazin River. In the lower reaches of the Rutledge River flows from the right in the Taltson River.
