The Nördlingen station located at various train routes and belongs to the category 5 station The railway lines are not integrated into the Transport Community Donau-Ries, hence the tariff of the Deutsche Bahn applies.

History

During the construction of the Ludwig South - North Railway, a railway station in Nördlingen was planned, as it was hoped that the connection to the railway network Württemberg here. The 42.4 km long section Donauwörth- Nördlingen - Oettingen was built by the Royal Bavarian State Railways and opened on 15 May 1849. The section of Aalen- Nördlingen, however, was built by the Kingdom of Württemberg. It was opened in 1863 and was hence forth connection to the Bavarian railway network. However, for this was in Nördlingen Württemberg route a separate terminal station.

In the former depot Nördlingen today the Bavarian Railway Museum ( BEM) is housed. Furthermore, here sits the train operating company Bavaria (Bayern train), a private railway undertakings (RUs ), which performs freight on routes in the surrounding area.

There are two signal boxes ( Dispatchers and point guards ), these are mechanical interlocking of the type " Jüdel " and was built in 1929. Therefore, the station has the form of signals.

Traffic

When operated by DB Regio Fugger express suburban train line drive type trains Alstom Coradia Continental (Series 440) are used. The lines after wet cheeks and Gunzenhausen be used only in the summer of passenger trains (otherwise exclusively freight). There are diesel and steam locomotives used.
