Nordøyan Lighthouse
Nordøyan fyr is a lighthouse on the coast of Norway in the municipality Vikna in Nord-Trøndelag. The lighthouse, which is located on the island Sunøya the fishing village north of Nordøyan Folda, was built in 1890 and is in state ownership. With the help of a large Fresnel lens, which is still in use today, a range of 17.2 nautical miles is achieved. 2005, the lighthouse was converted to automatic operation.
Near the lighthouse Nordøyan the downfall of the Hurtigruten ship Sanct Svithun occurred in 1962.
