Norman Hunter (author)

Norman George Lorimer Hunter ( born November 23, 1899 in Sydenham, a city district of London, † February 23, 1995 in Staines, England ) was a British children's book author.

Hunter began his career as a copywriter. In the 1930s he became a magician on in Bournemouth and began working on the children's book series, Professor stroke ( in the original: Professor Branestawm ) to write, which was originally intended as a series for the radio. The first published as a hardcover editions volumes were illustrated by Heath Robinson, while the images of the published in the 1960s by Penguin in the series Puffin Books editions of other artists originate.

During the Second World War, Hunter lived in London on a boat on the Thames. In 1949 he moved to South Africa and heard with his literary career on. In 1970 he returned to London, where Thames Television had just completed the eight -part television series with Professor Branestawm. Hunter started retired again to write and published his last book in 1983.
