Normen Europäischer Modellbahnen

NEM standards means European Model Railroads or Normes Européennes de Modélisme (French). The NEM are defined by the Technical Commission of the MOROP in collaboration with model railway manufacturers and published by MOROP.

The NEM allow manufacturers of model railways, to make their products so that they work reliably together. Defining the standards and others the standards for model railways, recommended curve radii and gradients, wheel profiles, couplings, and Digital Command Control.

The NEM cover a similar range from how the standards and recommendations of the NMRA in the United States, but the two standards are not available in all areas interoperable. Lately MOROP and NMRA have worked together closely to establish common standards, such as for Digital Command Control. Follow European manufacturers generally the NEM, while North American manufacturers generally follow the NMRA standards.

The NEM are characterized by a three -digit number system, some additionally provided with a country code.
