North Slavic languages
The terms North Slavs or nordslawisch is a sub-grouping of the Slavs. The term is, however, unclear defined:
- Ethnographic as a controversial term for the Western and Eastern Slavs (as opposed to the Southern Slavs in the Balkans )
- As a mainly Russian side applied preamble to highlight a supposedly close relationship between Pan-Slavic Poles, Czechs and Russians, and thus to establish the membership of Poland to Russia
- Linguistically, a hypothetical fourth Slavic language group, which is postulated due to the linguistic features of the altnowgoroder dialect of birch bark documents
- As a group of planned languages ( a fictional fourth Slavic language group )
