North-Western Tunnel

The North West Tunnel (Russian Северо - западный тоннель / Severo- sapadny tonnel ) is a 3.25 km long road tunnel in the Russian capital Moscow. He was taken in January 2008.

The tunnel is located north of the district Krylatskoje and runs under a forest area. He has a total of two levels, each with two tubes. The higher level is for the car traffic on the same time as the newly constructed highway section ( which also includes the few hundred meters to the east of the tunnel built Schiwopisny bridge over the Moskva River is one ) is determined on the lower level are metro. The section of the subway tunnels within the north-west tunnel is part of a new line of Arbatsko - Pokrowskaja - line, which was put into operation on 7 January 2008. Between the tunnels another tube diameter of six meters is for technical purposes as well as possible means of escape. The main tubes are each 3250 meters long including the ramps and have a diameter of 13.75 meters each.
