The Northern Pig- (Macaca leonina ) is a primate of the species of macaques within the family Cercopithecidae ( Cercopithecidae ). It is closely related to the Southern pig-tailed macaques and was recognized recently as a separate species.

The distribution area of the Northern pig monkey extends from eastern India ( Assam ) and southern China to Thailand.

Owes its name to the Northern Pig- the porcine, around 15 to 25 centimeters long, ringed tail. His coat is olive-brown on the top or greyish, the underside is whitish.

Little is known about the way of life, she probably agrees with that of the Southern pig monkey match. It is diurnal and lives in groups that are composed of several females and males including kids. The diet consists of fruit, other parts of plants and small animals.

Mainly due to the destruction of their habitat of the Northern Pig- by the IUCN as endangered ( " vulnerable" ) is listed.
