Northfleet is a town in the administrative area Gravesham in Kent, England.

The village already existed in Roman times.

Name History

The name derives from the River Fleet (now Ebbsfleet ). He developed by the Saxons as follows: Fleote around 600 AD, Flyote around 900 AD and Flete around 1000 AD In the Domesday Book the place as Norfluete and 1201 was referred to as Northflet. Since 1610 the name of Northfleet has prevailed.
