Northwest Region (Cameroon)

Northwest ( Nord-Ouest French or English North West) is a region of Cameroon with capital Bamenda.

Geography

The province of Nord-Ouest is located in the west of the country, bordered to the north by Nigeria, to the southeast by the Western Region, to the southwest by the South West region and on the east by the Adamawa Region. The province is located mostly in the Bamenda highlands, whose highest peak is the 3,011 meter high volcanic mountains to Oku. A second high mountain range in the province are the Bamenda Mountains. International announced the province was the tragedy at Lake Nyos, on 21 August 1986.
