Norway Township is a township in Dickinson County in the U.S. state of Michigan near the cities of Iron Mountain and Norway located on the border with Wisconsin.

On September 12, 1877, settled here a mining company after 1872 exploration work of the Milwaukee Iron Company for the construction of the famous Vulcan mine had done. From this soon developed a small village. Today Vulcan is (now Union Pacific Railroad ) connected to the Chicago & North Western Railroad and is located right on U.S. Highway 2

Until 1891 Vulcan belonged to the Menominee County, but was then the newly founded Dickinson County assigned.
