Norwood Ridge

The Claygate Ridge is a prominent mountain ridge in south London, which is known from the uppermost layers of the London Clay, as Claygate Beds, is covered. It includes Sydenham Hill, Crystal Palace and parts of Dulwich and Upper Norwood, where not everything is one of the Claygate Beds. The upper part of the back is (ft 330) on average a little over 100 meters high and has an unobstructed view to the north of the valley of the Thames. To the west lies the wide valley of the Wandle, and in the east of the River Pool. To the south lie lower layers of the London Clay and paläozänische deposits between the ridge and the North Downs.

In the area there used to be many brick- and there are many railway tunnel. It is also the location of two known transmission towers, the Crystal Palace transmitter and the transmitter Croydon.
