Noskowo, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Noskowo ( German name Notzkow ) is a village in the northeast of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the rural community Sławno ( Schlawe ) in a circle Sławno.

Geographical location

The old manor and farm village Noskowo located 10 kilometers northeast of Sławno and 17 kilometers southwest of Slupsk ( Stolp ) south of the Polish national road 6 ( former German Reich Straße 2, today Europastraße 28 ) Gdansk - Szczecin. Station is Wrześnica ( Freetz ) to the state railway line 202 Gdańsk - Stargard ( Pomerania ).

Neighboring towns of Noskowo are: Wrześnica ( Freetz ) to the west, Nosalin ( Nitzlin ) and Pałówko ( New Paalow ) in the north, Sycewice ( Zitzewitz ) and Komorczyn ( Kummerzin ) in the east and Bzowo ( Besow ) and Tychowo ( (Wendish ) Tychow ) in south.

The landscape is flat and lies about 50 meters above sea level.

Place name

The place name is probably Wendish origin but unknown meaning. Notzkow had before 1945 known as the " Schipp " (= " ship "), which either alluded to the fact that here have lived in earlier times many sailors, or to the presence of peatlands, which were surrounded by large bodies of water.

History

Notzkow is first mentioned in a document in 1326-1365, the dukes Bogislaw V, Barnim VI. and V. Wartislaw the city Schlawe confirm their prerogatives and freedoms. Among the witnesses mentioned is a Stanislaus de Nossikow. His seal shows him as a member of the family of Pirch. Later, the fief to the Natzmer comes from. 1656 sold this family a part of the von Zitzewitz, another part of the 1729 Kleist. From 1765 Friedrich Wilhelm von Zitzewitz owner, in the early 19th century, then the family of Schwirchow.

1834 buys Friedrich Zutz the estate. His descendants sell it in 1908 to Heinrich Graf von Zitzewitz on. Last owner was on Notzkow Peter Georg von Zitzewitz.

1818 lived in Notzkow 234 inhabitants, the number rose to 1895 and amounted to 477 in 1939 430 ( 95 households ).

On 7 March 1945, the Red Army occupied on their march to Schlawe the place. The village was Militärkolchose and 1947 handed over by the Russians in Poland. The German population was largely expelled. Was Notzkow Noskowo as a part of the gmina Sławno in powiat Slawienski in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship ( to 1998 Voivodeship Stolp ).

Notzkow had one room school before 1945. The schoolhouse was built in 1870, by then was teaching in the home of the teacher instead.
