The knife fish -like ( Notopteroidei ) are a suborder of Knochenzünglerartigen ( Osteoglossiformes ). At the suborder includes about 225 species of freshwater fish. The vast majority of species live in tropical Africa, seven in South Asia.

Features

The knife -like fish have a connection between the swim bladder and the inner ear, which is formed by a ballooning of the front end of the swim bladder and to the vestibular system ( saccule ) is sufficient.
