Nouzonville

Nouzonville is a commune with 6312 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Ardennes department in the Champagne- Ardenne region. She is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté d' agglomération de Charleville- Mézières and administratively belongs to the district of Charleville -Mézières and Canton Nouzonville whose capital it is.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 20 kilometers northwest of Sedan and six kilometers north of Charleville- Mézières to the banks of the Maas ( Meuse French ). At the border to Belgium, there are only about seven kilometers. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Joigny -sur -Meuse in north,
  • Bogny -sur -Meuse in north- west and north- east,
  • Neufmanil in the east,
  • Aiglemont in the southeast,
  • Montcy -Notre -Dame in the southwest and
  • Charleville- Mézières in the West.

The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park Ardennes and extends on both sides of the river Maas, the (formerly Canal de l' Est) at this point under the name Canal de la Meuse was expanded for the inland waterways. The lying on the east side, part of larger community is drained by the river and its tributary Goutelle Nédimont the Meuse.

Transport links

Along the Meuse lead the department D1 road from Charleville -Mézières by Revin as well as a railway from Charleville -Mézières towards Namur. The railway line runs along the right bank and has a railway station in the village, while the department of road on the left bank at the district Devant Nouzon runs, which is connected via a road bridge with the main town on the other side of the river. The department D22 road runs eastwards towards the Belgian border.

Economy

Important economic activities are the forestry, tourism and fishing for centuries. 1927 Automobile of the type Cyclecar were produced under the brand name Le Mehari only during a short time.
