Nový Dvůr Monastery

The Monastery of Nový Dvůr is a Trappist abbey in Okres Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. It is located one mile east of the village of Dobra Voda belonging to Toužim on a plateau above the confluence of the Bezděkovský and Úterský creek.

History

Originally, the monastery was a baroque farm, which was probably built in 1760 by Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer.

1999 acquired monks from the French Abbey Sept- Fons the dilapidated property in the Diocese of Pilsen with the help of other monasteries of the Order. 2000 has started with the construction work, which has included the restoration of old buildings and the construction of a church, and under the guidance of British architect John Pawson. Even before its completion, the Monastery of Nový Dvůr has its modern, minimalist architecture attracted the attention.

Trappist - - On 24 September 2011, the priory Nový Dvŭr by the General Chapter of the Cistercians of the Strict Observance was an abbey in Assisi on 8 December 2011. First abbot was Samuel Lauras OCSO.
