Nový Kostel

Nový Kostel ( German Neukirchen ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers east of Plesná and belongs to Okres Cheb.

Geography

Nový Kostel is located in the valley of the brook Lubinka in the south of the Ore Mountains. West of the town runs the railway line Tršnice - Luby, the station Nový Kostel is located two kilometers west of the town in Spálené. East of the proceeds with the dam flooded the valley of Horka Libocký creek.

Neighboring towns are Božetín and Oldřišská in the north, Bernov in the northeast, Čižebná in the east, and Květná Kopanina to the southeast, and Lesná Hrzín in the south and Spálené in the West.

History

The settlement of the area in the 13th century by the Klosterwald Assen. The monastery sold 1348 Schönbacher Ländchen to Rüdiger von Sparneck. After the Munich Agreement in 1938 Neukirchen was added to the German Reich and belonged until 1945 to the district of Eger. 1939 Neukirchen 1137 inhabitants. After the war, the community came back to Czechoslovakia and the Germans were expelled.

Attractions
