Nuakata Island

Nuakata is a volcanic island in the Goschen Strait, a strait in the southern Salomonensee, located 18 km south-west of the island of Normanby and 14 km south-east of the East Cape, the south-eastern tip of the island of New Guinea.

About 2 km east of the irregularly shaped island Nuakata are small uninhabited islands Boirama and Diawari.

At the 2000 census the island had 493 inhabitants in 94 households, all in the same village Nuakata.

Administratively the island to Maramatana Rural LLG (Local Level Government) Area is in the district of Alotau Milne Bay Province.
