Nuala Fennell

Nuala Fennell ( born November 25, 1935 in Dublin, † August 11, 2009 ibid ) was an Irish activist for women's rights, politician and entrepreneur.

Fennell was active in the 1970s for the rights of abandoned or abused women and in 1972 was a founding member of the group that built the first women's shelter in Dublin.

In 1977 she ran unsuccessfully as an independent for a seat in the 21st Dáil Éireann. In the late 1970s, she came to the Fine Gael and ran for the party in the European elections in 1979. 1981 she was elected as the representative for South Dublin for Fine Gael in the 22th Dáil Éireann. Also, the 23 and 24 Dáil belonged to her. During the 24th Dáil Éireann, she was Minister of State of the Taoiseach. In the elections to the 25th Dáil Éireann February 17, 1987 Fennell could not again defend their mandate. Instead, she was nominated on February 20 by Garret FitzGerald for the 17th Seanad Éireann, as it contains some seats had become vacant by the Dáil elections. For a short time later held Senate elections, she was confirmed in office. Fennell now belonged to the 18th Seanad Éireann, but resigned in June 1989 out of him when she was elected to the 26th Dáil Éireann. In 1992 she moved back to the end of the term of the policy and operated a successful public relations firm.

Fennell was married and had three children.
