Nubar Terziyan

Nubar Terziyan (* March 1909 in Istanbul, † January 14, 1994 ibid; official: Nubar Alyanak ) was a Turkish actor of Armenian descent.

Biography

The ethnic Armenian Nubar Terziyan took after 1935 the family name Alyanak (cf. surnames Act). He attended the Bezazyan Ermeni Lisesi ( Armenian school Bezazyan ) in Bakırkoy. In 1940 he began his acting career in 1949 he had his first starring role in an adaptation of Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınars Efsuncu Baba. He starred in hundreds of films and several television programs.

After 1990 his acting career ended, he received on January 14, 1993 set up a " Emek Ödülü " and was awarded the " Yasam Boyu Başarı Ödülü " (1993-1994 ) of the Ankara Uluslararası film Festivali excellent. He died at the age of 84 years and is on the Balıklı cemetery buried.

Victims of racism

In 1979 Terziyan expressed in an advertisement in several newspapers expressed his condolences over the death of film actor Ayhan Işık from. The display designated Işık and Terziyan as son and uncle - form of address for a young man and an elderly, who are not related. Shortly thereafter Işıks family was intimidated and threatened because of the possibility of a relationship of Ayhan Işık with Armenians. The family was in the press out a reply and stated that there were no links between Terziyan and Işık.
