Nubkhaes (13th dynasty)

Nubchaes was an ancient Egyptian queen. She is the first datable queen with the title Great Royal Wife. Other titles of the Queen are members of the elite ( jrt - pat), Mistress of all women ( Hnwt nbt HMWT ) and is combined with the beauty of the white crown ( xnmt nfr HDT).

Nubchaes is mainly known from a stela, now in the Louvre. On it is shown twice in the upper field, how they sacrificed once before Hathor and once before Osiris. Her father was the scribe of the vizier Dedusobek. In the lower part of the stele family members find it listed, among which there are many well-known from other sources to senior officials. Here are mainly the top asset managers Nebanch and the barn superintendent Sobekemsaf ( her father's brother) mentioned. Your royal husband is not mentioned on the stele. This gave rise to various speculations, as the wife of Sobekemsaf II ( 17th dynasty ) also Nubchaes was called and both women were equated. However, due to their relationship, they can be placed with certainty in the 13th Dynasty. Your royal husband remains uncertain, most likely it is a ruler, who reigned shortly after Sobekhotep IV, as most relatives among these are datable from him, however, is already known a wife. Sobekhotep IV can not be excluded.
