Nuuk Cathedral

Church of the Redeemer ( grönl. Annaassisup Oqaluffia, dän. Kirke ago Frelser ) is the best known church building in the Greenland capital Nuuk. The building is a landmark, and stands in the colonial port, the oldest part Nuuks. It was built in 1848 and consecrated on April 6, 1849. The dome was in 1884 replaced by the present tower. The building replaced a church of 1758. Since 1994 is the red wooden church, the Protestant cathedral in the country.

The organ comes from the company Marcussen & Son was established in 1970 and installed. Two brass candlesticks are a gift from the Church of Norway. Inside the church, a painting by Carl Rasmussen and a marble relief are worth mentioning. A little above the church there is a statue of Hans Egede.
