History

Before the public transport in Nuuk was provided by the city government, private providers offered transportation services within the city. The unreliability of these providers prompted the former city council to regulate the transport. On September 26, 1980, the Nuup Bussii A / S was founded for this reason. The company started with five buses and seven employees. These figures increased by the continuous settlement expansion Nuuks soon. In 1999, the company had 19 employees. The bus fleet was at the beginning of the company from Mercedes buses, later the Nuup Bussi A / S bought vehicles from the Danish manufacturer Dansk Automobil Construction Association ( DAB) to do so. In 2000, the first vehicles of the manufacturer Volvo were purchased, which today make up a large part of the vehicle fleet.

Since the administrative reform in 2009, the company provides transportation services available in the newly formed United municipality Sermersooq and thus connects the city center of Nuuk with the outlying districts Qernertunnguanut, Nuussuaq and Qinngorput. In 2011, two million passengers were transported.
