Nyoman Masriadi

Nyoman Masriadi (* 1973 in Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia) is an Indonesian painter.

Life

Masriadi received his education at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, the Institute Seni Indonesia ( ISI) in Yogyakarta on Java. He is one of the first Balinese artists who moved away from the traditional style of painting and the traditional themes of the artists of his native island. He found after initial experiments with Cubism his own style, in which road signs, cartoon and graffiti mix. Characteristic are his larger than life dark-skinned figures, the ordinary people of Indonesia.

Masriadi has with his paintings since 2008 a commercial success, it was one of his paintings for more than a million dollars sold at Sotheby's in Hong Kong, for example, in the same year.

Exhibitions

  • In 2008 he had his first solo exhibition Black Is My Last Weapon in the Singapore Art Museum.
  • The artist participated in group exhibitions including Australia, the Netherlands, East and in his home country.
