Cultural and historical significance

Until the small hamlet Seduck ( 1,472 m) is the Oberbergtal settled permanently, and from there up there are only pastures, farmed in the summer. The highest building is the built in 1885 Franz- Senn- hut of the Austrian Alpine Club at 2149 m.

The Oberbergtal is among hikers and mountaineers very popular in summer and winter and has an alpine historically interesting story. An early reference is found in the hunting Emperor Maximilian with a reference to the forgotten field names " Naggewann ". An early " tourist " visit is reported from 1765: Emperor Joseph II visited the Alpeiner addition. One may assume that this ascent was already fairly well known, even if it was taken in in an imperial visit program. 1823 is another important visitor of Alpeiner Ferners record: On 8 September, leaving Napoleon's widow, Archduchess Maria Louisa of Parma, up there bear, accompanied by shooters and band. A picture of this event, a very rare example of female " alpinism " this time is found in the Tyrolean Provincial Museum.
