Oberblegisee

The Oberblegisee is a mountain lake in the canton of Glarus at the foot of Glärnisch. It lies at an altitude of about 1'422 m and thus almost 900 meters above the main valley. The lake is 15 ha in size and was created behind a glacial moraine. He has how many lakes such an underground drain through the loose rock, which is still largely unexplored.

From Braunwald a way without major height difference results in about 2 ½ hours to Oberblegisee. From the valley floor the road is arduous, but it also results in a small cable car from Luchsingen the fountain mountain. The hill station is located 330 meters below the lake.

In the next chamber area, 2 kilometers north and 100 meters higher there is still an endorheic lake, the " Guppensee ". Recently, however, the nearly one -acre lake is often dry.
