Oberdorf im Burgenland is a municipality with 1029 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Burgenland in the district Oberwart in Austria.

Geography

The municipality is located in southern Burgenland. Oberdorf im Burgenland is the only place in the community.

History

The place was like the rest of Burgenland to 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary). Since 1898, had to be used because of Magyarization the government in Budapest the Hungarian name. After the end of World War II German West Hungary was awarded in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919 Austria after tough negotiations. The place belongs since 1921 to the newly founded State of Burgenland (see also history of Burgenland ).

The distribution of seats (15 seats) in the municipal council is: ÖVP 7, 7 SPÖ, FPÖ 0, Green 0, and other lists 1 mandate.

Of the 895 votes 951 votes were valid. The Social Democratic Party got 395 votes, the People's Party got 482 votes and the Freedom Party got 18 votes.

In 2002 the SPÖ 7 seats, the ÖVP and the FPÖ 1 7 mandates mandate had.
