The Oberwesel station is located on the left bank route between Koblenz and Mainz in the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The station of the category 5 in the southern part of the city of Oberwesel is served by regional trains of Deutsche Bahn AG and the trans regio German regional train GmbH.

History

With the enlargement of the left Rhine route from Koblenz to Bingen was ending 1859 Oberwesel station in operation. In 1896, followed by the construction of the port track. Already in 1907 /08, the station building was enlarged by additions to the site: A service room for the dispatcher, a station restaurant and a waiting room for the 3rd class were added. The renovation of the lobby and the construction of a separate building at the Mainzer Straße abortion took place from 1925 to 1927. 1956 pedestrian underpass was built under the tracks and built 1969/70, the relay building next to the station building. In 2004, it was finally torn down the toilet building again in the course of construction of the P R facility.

Infrastructure

Conservation

The reception building of Oberweseler station is a protected cultural monument after the Monument Protection Act ( DSchG ) and entered in the list of monuments of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Since 2002, the station building part of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
