Observation on the Spot

Lokaltermin is a novel by Stanislaw Lem in 1982, in which the space pilot Ijon Tichy plays the main role. The German translation of Hubert Schumann was published in 1987.

Action

After his return to Earth Tichy travels to Switzerland, where he by an authority ( the Ministry of Aliens Affairs ) experiences, which is dedicated to the extraterrestrial diplomacy and tried in a giant computer, the story also to simulate peoples and planets for vacation.

In his star diaries Tichy has reported from his trip to Entia but was not orbiting on Entia itself, but only on a Entia entertainment Satellite landed, as he learns during a visit of the MFAA. First Tichy operates in Switzerland meticulous studies on Entia to travel with the intention Entia himself later.

During the trip, Ijon Tichy has the personality copies of Karl Popper, Paul Feyerabend, Bertrand Russell and last William Shakespeare.

In the last part of the novel Tichy comes after a long space in Entia and visited both the resident and the manschen Losannier and an overview of life on this distant planet.
