Observatory of Strasbourg

The Observatoire de Strasbourg is an astronomical observatory in Strasbourg, France. It was built in 1881 and now belongs to the University of Strasbourg. It houses a planetarium and is surrounded by botanical garden of the University.

Well-known astronomer, who worked at the Strasbourg Observatory: Ernst Becker, Julius Bauschinger, André Danjon, William Lewis Elkin (1855-1933), Ernest Esclangon, Ernst Hartwig (1851-1923), Carlos Jaschek (1926-1999), Pierre Lacroute (1906-1993), Otto Tetens, Carl Wilhelm Wirtz, Walter Wislicenus.

The modern cultivation (1999), the observatory houses the Strasbourg Planetarium.
