Oburu Odinga

Oburu Ngona Odinga (* October 15, 1943 ) is a Kenyan politician.

Biography

Odinga, son of Kenya's first Vice-President Oginga Odinga and older brother of the current Prime Minister Raila Odinga, holds a degree in Economics, from which he graduated with a Master of Science ( M.Sc.Econ. ). He later earned his Philosophiae Doctor ( Ph.D.) in Economics in Moscow and graduated from Applied courses in public finance at the Kenya Institute of Administration.

His professional career began in 1971 as Head of Administrative Assistant of the Municipality of Kisumu. He was subsequently 1974-1980 General Manager of LUTATCO. His political career began in 1974 as a member of the City Council of Kisumu, where he remained until 1979. Between 1981 and 1994 he worked as an economist in the Ministry of State for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030.

In 1994 he was elected a member of Parliament, where he has since been the constituency represents Bondo. Since 2006 he is a member of the guided by his brother Raila Odinga Orange Democratic Movement.

After this 2008 Prime Minister of Kenya in April, called this Oburu Odinga Vice-Minister of Finance ( Assistant Minister of Finance ).
