Orange Democratic Movement

The Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM shortcuts, German Orange Democratic Movement ) is a party founded in 2006 in Kenya. It came out against the Kenyan constitutional referendum in 2005 from the opposition.

ODM was born from the collaboration of the Liberal Democratic Party of Kenya with KANU against the draft constitution of the government of President Mwai Kibaki, who was defeated in the referendum of 2005. The CANOE retired before the 2007 election from the ODM from again, a number of recent KANU politicians mainly from the Kalenjin ethnic group in the Rift Valley but remained in the ODM.

In the 2007 election, she became the strongest party in the Kenyan Parliament with around 45 percent of the vote and 99 deputies.
