The Ochanomizu Joshi Daigaku (Japaneseお茶の水女子大学, dt Ochanomizu Women's University, English. Ochanomizu University) is a Japanese national university in Bunkyō -ku, Tokyo. She is, in addition to the Nara Joshi Daigaku, one of the two state-run women universities in Japan.

The school name " Ochanomizu " comes from where it is incorporated, where they remained until 1932 ( see Yushima Seido ). In her former campus today is the Medical and Dental University Tokyo (东京 医科 歯 科 大学, Tōkyō ika shika daigaku ).

History

The university was founded in 1875 as a state normal school girl Tokyo (东京 女子 师范学校, Tōkyō joshi shihan Gakko ). It was renamed in 1890 in Higher Normal School for Women, and in 1908 in Higher Normal School for Women Tokyo (东京 女子 高等 师范学校, Tōkyō joshi Kōtō shihan Gakko ). The Higher Normal School for Women (Japanese joshi Kōtō shihan Gakko ) was an educational establishment, educated the teachers at the girls normal schools and girls schools.

1923 Great Kanto Earthquake destroyed the school building and in 1932 the school moved to the present campus. 1949 developed the school for his wife Ochanomizu University.
