Properties
Octane is a clear, colorless liquid having a boiling point of 126 ° C. It is highly flammable, flash point is 12 ° C, the ignition temperature at 205 ° C. Octane forms between an air volume fraction from 0.8 to 6.5 % explosive mixtures. Add water only 0.7-2.5 mg / l are soluble. It occurs as a component of crude oil and is hazardous to water ( WGK 2).
