Oderturm

Or The tower is a 25-storey, built 1968-1976 office tower in Frankfurt ( Oder).

History

The tower was designed and built by a collective under the direction of architect Hans Tulke and Paul Teichmann and partly by youth brigades. The construction lasted almost eight years. It was planned as an office building. At the opening, there were 274 beds for workers in the semiconductor plant in Frankfurt (Oder), and 160 beds for a youth hostel. In addition, part of the data processing center of Frankfurt ( Oder) ( DVZ ) there was housed. On the ground floor there were the bookstore " Ulrich -von- Hutten", a Delicacy shop with 400 m² of retail space and the self-service restaurant " Quick - restaurateur ", during the 23rd floor the panorama - was housed Café.

After German reunification, the building was renovated (1992 to 1994), and rebuilt according to the plans of architect Monika cancer. The renovation cost approximately DM 200 million ( € 100.3 million ). On August 26, 1993, the 41,000 square meter or tower complex was inaugurated with a modern shopping arcade. A large neon sign has been added. It is an unmistakable landmark of the city. With 1400 jobs Oder tower is an important part of the center of the city. In 2000, a restaurant was opened on the 24th floor. In the twenty-fifth, barely visible floor, there is a technology level, which is slightly lower than the other.
