Office de Radiodiffusion Télévision Française

The Office de Radio Télévision Française diffusion ( ORTF ) was from 1964 to 1974 the public broadcaster France.

After the Second World War, the state broadcaster France was established with the founding of Radio Diffusion Française (RDF ) in 1945. It was replaced on February 9, 1949 by radio - télévision française diffusion (RTF), it was assumed as a state institution the Ministry of Information. On 27 June 1964, based out of the RTF, the ORTF. Model for a free, independent institution was the BBC. The ORTF had its headquarters in the Paris Maison de Radio France, which was opened in 1963. Regional television studios

ORTF entertained 11 regional stations that were broadcasting daily over a few hours in the first two television channels and produced the shipments for the third television channel.

Regional television was launched in 1950 to life. Until the dissolution of FR3 sent on the regional station. TF1 and Antenne 2 irradiated after further regional broadcasts from (TF1 to 1986, antenna 2 to 1989).

On 8 July 1974, with effect from 31 December 1974, ORTF divided into seven successor companies ( a radio company, three television stations and three public institutions):

Technology

Engineers of the French Radio Orchestra, among others, Albert Laracine, developed in 1960, the ORTF stereo system, a microphone array for recording sound in Äquivalenzstereofonie for stereo loudspeaker reproduction.
