The Ogooué (also Ogoue Ogowe or written ) is an approximately 1200 km long river that flows from the Republic of Congo to Gabon.

Its catchment area covers almost entirely Gabon; some tributaries extend up to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. The 223,856 km ² Ogooué basin is mostly covered by rainforest, beside of grassland.

Course

The Ogooué rises near Kengue in the northwest of Bateke plateau in the Republic of Congo. In Boumango it flows through the border to Gabon, where the regions of skin - Ogooué Ogooué- Lolo, Ogooué- Ivindo, Moyen- Ogooué and Ogooué -Maritime are named after him. In Maulongo the Poubara cases are. From Lastoursville to Ndjolé there are rapids, so the flow from Ndjolé is only navigable down to the sea. About Lambaréné the Ogooué reaches its mouth in the Gulf of Guinea to the south of Port-Gentil, where it forms a delta.

Among the tributaries of the Ogooué include Ivindo, Mpassa, Lolo, Okano and Ngounié.
