Ohio Valley Wrestling

Ohio Valley Wrestling, OVW short, is the name of a U.S. wrestling promotion, which is based in Louisville, Kentucky. Promoter is Daniel Briley.

History

The history of the promotion began in 1997, when the former wrestler Daniel Briley and promoter Jim Cornette in the National Wrestling Alliance Ohio Championship Wrestling (OCW ) lined up. Initially OCW was an associated promotion of the NWA. In 1998, the promotion has been fully accepted into the NWA and now functioned under the banner NWA Ohio Championship Wrestling.

In 2000 the promotion left the NWA again and became the development territory of the former World Wrestling Federation (WWF) made ​​. In this connection, Ohio Championship Wrestling was renamed Ohio Valley Wrestling.

2005 Jim Cornette left the promotion, but remained business partners. On February 8, 2008, WWE announced the collaboration with Ohio Valley Wrestling. After the promotion was independent again and was divided again into the Independant scene.

Since November 2011, OVW is a developmental territory of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, the main competitor of the WWE.
