Okrouhlá (Cheb District)

Okrouhlá ( German disc Reuth ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers east of the center of Cheb and belongs to Okres Cheb.

Geography

Okrouhlá located in the southeast of the Egerbeckens at Jesenice. To the north rises the hill Rovina ( front like a mountain, 481 m). Through the village leads the state road 21 between Cheb and Plana. To the south is the forest area Lažanský les.

Neighboring towns are Trpěš and Lipoltov in the north, Tuřany in the northeast, UVAL and Velka Šitboř in the east, in the southeast Žírnice, Salajna, Dolni Lažany and Horni Lažany in the south, Žirnice in the southwest, and Stebnice Dřenice in the west and Jesenice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1299 as a possession of the lords of the village of Paul, who held the village until 1421. During this time, awarded the Paul Strand disc Reuth to different Cheb citizens. In the mid-15th century, the Cheb patrician family Juncker bought the place in 1570 was the ownership of the Krahmer family. Between 1633 and 1779 Schmiedl were Seeberg owner of disc Reuth. Subsequently, the Müller family Muck acquired the site. 1792 was the castle Neuhof.

After the replacement of patrimonial disc Reuth formed with the hamlet of Neuhof 1850 a municipality in the district court or district Eger Eger. 1885 sold the Muck the parties and the property in disc Reuth Family Oehmisch that the festivals had it converted into a castle in 1888 and was expropriated in 1945. 1930 lived in disc Reuth 195 people, in 1939 there were 192 After the Munich Agreement in 1938, the village was incorporated into the German Reich and was from 1939 to 1945 the district of Eger. After the Second World War disc Reuth came back to Czechoslovakia; The German inhabitants were expelled. Castle and estate Scheibenreut were nationalized. 1948 was the church the name Okrouhlá and Neuhof was renamed in Nový Dvůr. In the years 1957-1960 the Jesenice dam was built on the Wondreb. Here, the village of Jesenice was flooded and on the banks of the dam was built east of the old site a new settlement. Also Dřenice sank down to the church and some houses in the reservoir. The settlement Nový Dvůr went out in the 1960s. 1961 Jesenice was incorporated. Between 1976 and 1990 Okrouhlá was a district of the village Dolni Žandov.

On 3 July 1982, the German pilot Friedemann Späth landed with a Piper PA-18 on a meadow at the state road 21 at Okrouhlá and flew as smugglers with two East German refugees from Rudolstadt across the Iron Curtain to Pegnitz. Okrouhlá is one of the seven member municipalities of the micro-region Chebská pánev.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Okrouhlá Jesenice ( Gaßnitz ) and Okrouhlá ( disc Reuth ), at the same time also form Katastralbezirke. To Okrouhlá also include the deserted village Nový Dvůr ( Neuhof ).

Attractions

  • Fixed Okrouhlá built in the 14th century and in 1888 converted into a castle. Since 1990, the castle Okrouhlá is back in private ownership.
  • Waldstein Oak ( Valdštejnův dub); the estimated 400 years of summer oak tree with a trunk circumference of 6.74 m is protected as a memorial tree.
