Oksana Yermakova

Oksana Ivanovna Jermakowa (Russian Оксана Ивановна Ермакова; born April 16, 1973 in Tallinn, Estonian SSR then, Soviet Union) is a Russian epee fencer. Early in her career, she competed for the Soviet Union and then for Estonia. In 1998 she changed citizenship and occurs since then for Russia. She is a multiple medalist at Olympic Games, World and European Championships.

Sporting successes

Their first international medal won Jermakowa at the World Fencing Championships in 1991 in Budapest, where she won the bronze medal in singles and with the Soviet team. In 1993 she won the world title in Essen. It was thus the first Estonian World Fencing Champion. With the Estonian team epee she won the bronze medal in 1995 in The Hague. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, she was fifteenth in the individual competition and with the Estonian team they finished fifth. Four years later at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, she won the gold medal with the Russian team. At the European Championships in Moscow in 2002, she won the bronze medal in the individual competition and the silver medal with the Russian team. In the 2003 World Fencing Championships in Havana, she won the gold medal with the Russian team. In Bourges she won at the 2003 European Championship with the Russian team in the finals against their former Estonian teammates. She repeated this success with the Russian team at the European Championships in Copenhagen in 2004. In individual competition, she won the bronze medal. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she was able to repeat the success of 2000 with the Russian team. In the individual it was finished in 20th place.
