Ola Brunkert

Ola Brunkert ( born September 15, 1946 in Örebro, Sweden, † March 16, 2008 in Arta, Mallorca) was a Swedish drummer.

Brunkert began his musical career as a jazz musician, but also with blues ( in the band Slim's Blues Gang ) and pop (Science Poption ) the mid-1960s came in contact. After an engagement with Janne Schaffer's jazz - oriented group Opus III Brunkert worked as a session musician and as such was in 1970 one of the most sought after drummers in Sweden. His greatest attention he found through his work at all eight albums the band ABBA. A first involvement with the band took place in 1972 with the single People Need Love even before the actual band's formation and naming ABBA. While the four singers Björn, Benny, Agnetha and Anni -Frid always achieved a strong public perception, the musicians remained relatively unknown behind the singers. Brunkert can be heard in all the great ABBA hits from Waterloo, Dancing Queen and The Winner takes it all and is one of the most listened drummers in music history at an estimated ABBA plates 370 million sold. Between 1977 and 1980 Brunkert went with ABBA on tour. In ABBA - The Movie, he worked with as an actor.

After the release of ABBA in 1982, he worked with various Swedish artists, before retiring to Majorca. With ABBA - The Show, which went on tour from 26 September 2007 and was on display in 2008 in Germany, he was like other former Abba musician guest star at the performances. In Mallorca, he died in an accident at his home in Arta.
