Olaf Schmidt

Olaf Schmidt ( * 1962 in Osterholz- Beck in Bremen ) is a German aerobatic pilot gliders. His main job is a pilot of a Boeing 737

Life

Schmidt joined at the age of 13 years, the Bremer Verein für Luftfahrt eV at the age of 16 and received his first glider license. At age 21, he became a flight instructor in his club. Since 1987 he runs aerobatics. He started on a Pilatus B4.

In 1994, he earned his first glider aerobatic competition and in 2001 was a member of the national gliding the German Aero Club. Since then he has participated in several European and world championships with his Swift S-1.

Achievements

  • 2004: Open Dutch Championships, 1st place
  • 2005: British Open Championship, 1st
  • 2006: EGAC Poland, Teams Classification Bronze Medal
  • 2006: Dutch Open Championship, 1st
  • 2008: DM glider aerobatics, 2nd place

His best result in the World Cup 2007, the fourth rank and the silver medal in the team competition, together with Markus Feyerabend and Eugen Schaal.
