The Old Castle of Lieto (Finnish Liedon Vanhalinna ) was a fortified hill in the Finnish municipality of Lieto. The name is used to distinguish the castle of Turku. It is believed that the fortification was destroyed in Vanhalinna the early 14th century, as Turku was attacked by Novgorod.

The southwest Finnish landscape Varsinais -Suomi was for centuries the center of the country. The valley of the river Aurajoki was settled when the land rose after the Ice Age. The inhabitants of Lieto experienced later, the arrival of various peoples in the north. Among them were merchants, marauding troops and Christian missionaries.

Today the archaeological importance of the Vanhalinna in Lieto depends not only from the archaeological discoveries - the place belongs to the University of Turku, which performs a branch office there. There is an archaeological and ethnological museum, founded in 1956, when Mauno and esters Wanhalinna the University of Turku donated their collection.
