Old City Hall (The Hague)

The Oude Stadhuis (German Altes Rathaus ) was built in the city of The Hague from 1561 to 1565, following the example of the town hall of Antwerp and is considered one of the most important Renaissance buildings in the Northern Netherlands.

In the years 1733-1739 was extended in the Louis XIV style according to the plans of architect Daniel Marot ( 1661-1752 ) and JB Xaverij. In 1883 the Town Hall was again enlarged considerably. Later, the construction of a new town hall was decided that could meet the needs of the ever enlarging city justice.

The rooms are used among other things for weddings. In 1937 got married at Oude Stadhuis Juliana and Bernhard of Lippe - Biesterfeld. In 1967 followed Margriet of Orange -Nassau and Pieter van Vollenhoven.
