Old Mint, Stolberg

The Old Mint is a Grade II listed half-timbered house in Stolberg ( Harz), Saxony- Anhalt. In the building of the Stolberg museum is housed Ancient coin. It is located at the address Niedergasse 19

History and Architecture

The magnificently decorated half-timbered house was built in 1534 or 1535 from Stolberg citizens and mint master Kilian Kessler. It then served over the years as a coin, Berglehnsamt, District Court, Princely Stolberg- Stolberg Consistory and local history museum. Larger restorations took place in 1843, 1990/91 and most recently in 2004. After the renovation of 2004, it was reopened as a museum Ancient coin.
