Oleg Baklanov

Oleg Dmitrievich Baklanov (Russian Олег Дмитриевич Бакланов; born March 17, 1932 in Kharkiv, Ukraine ) was a Soviet politician and senior official in government and industry; he is now scientist and businessman.

He was from 1988 to 1991 a member of the CPSU Central Committee, responsible for tasks of national defense, and one of the members of the State Committee for the State of Emergency (Russian: Государственный Комитет по Чрезвычайному Положению, ГКЧП ) during the August coup in Moscow in 1991 against Mikhail Gorbachev.

In 1976 he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor and a Order of Lenin and the 1982 Lenin Prize.
