Olenyok (rural locality)

Olenjok (Russian Оленёк, Yakut Өлөөн / Ölöön ) is a village ( selo ) in the Republic of Sakha ( Yakutia) in Siberia (Russia). It is the administrative center of the Evenki Nationalrajons Olenjok and has 2273 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ). Olenjok is located on the left bank of the same river, which flows into the Laptev Sea, nearly 1100 km in a straight line to the northwest of the Republic capital of Yakutsk. In Olenjok is a museum on the history and ethnography of the peoples of the Russian North. The temperatures reached in Olenjok in winter to -60 ° C. The village lies on the planned highway Anabar.

On 16 December 1957, the Yakut singer Natasha Dokalowa ( 1957-2010 ) was born in Olenjok.
