Olpe (Hundem)

The Olpe, called the upper reaches Rahrbach, is the most water left tributary of the Hundem, a left tributary of the Lenne. The Olpe is 15.4 km long and runs completely in the district Kirchhundem in the district of Olpe, North Rhine -Westphalia, on the northwest edge of the Rothaargebirge.

Course

After a very short source course to the south follows the Olpe the B 517 in the direction of northeast over Kruberg, Rahrbach, Italians - Ennest, Benolpe and Hofolpe, then joins from the left in the Hundem in the northwest of the core community Kirchhundems.

Biogeophysical importance

From the place Italians - Ennest, the Olpe is a natural northwestern boundary of the Rothaargebirge, open into the various right tributaries. Among them is the opening out between Benolpe and Hofolpe Silver Creek ( 9.8 km, 18.094 km ²) by far the longest and richest.
